KCC Men's Red Blazer Member - Guest
Thursday - Saturday, July 13-15, 2023
The Kalamazoo Country Club Member-Guest Tournament, the Red Blazer, will be held Thursday, July 13th through Saturday 15th, 2023. The Red Blazer is open to all golfing members with New Members being especially encouraged to participate in this showcase event. The Red Blazer Field will be limited to 60 teams!
Red Blazer participants are welcome to play a practice round on Wednesday or Thursday morning before the start of the tournament if you wish. Continuing this year, we will be hosting an optional practice round cash skins game which has a 11:30am shotgun start on Thursday!
The format for the Red Blazer is Team Best Ball Match Play with all participants being assigned to flights based upon total team handicap. These flights will be comprised of 6 teams and will utilize a round robin schedule being used to ensure each team plays all other teams in their respective flight.
The first-round match will be played at 3:30 pm on Thursday, July 13th with dinner following play in the KCC Clubhouse overlooking Whites Lake!
Friday will feature 2 matches with the first beginning at 9:00am and the second following right after at 12:30pm. There will be two special events on Friday evening: a parimutuel betting event held in the KCC Clubhouse from 3:30pm - 5:30pm where you will have the chance to place bet or two on the winning team! Later on in the evening will be the The Red Blazer dinner on the event lawn, which will feature some of the best food in the Midwest as well as live music all night long!
Saturday will feature a gourmet breakfast served on the Golf Shop Patio beginning at 7:30am with the 4th round match set to begin at 9:00am and the FINAL matches starting at 12:00pm. Following play in the 5th match, the winners from each division will compete in the Red Blazer Shootout, which will begin promptly at 4:00pm and take place over Holes 1, 2, & 3!
The awards presentation for all flight winners and the overall champions will take place IMMEDIATELY following the shootout on the 1st Tee at approximately 6:00pm. Drinks & Hors D’oeuvres will be served during and after the ceremony.
