The 1909 Member Guest

We are proud to announce a new tournament here at Kalamazoo Country Club, one that will pay homage to our history. The 1909 is a One-Day Member-Guest Tournament featuring 2-person teams competing over 27 holes using multiple different formats. This tournament will be held on Friday, September 29 and will be limited to the first 46 teams that sign up!
The cost for The 1909 is $500 per team and includes all activities for the day except for alcohol and caddies used.
Registration for The 1909 will begin on Wednesday, April 21 at 8:00am and will done in person rather than through the Golf Genius Tournament Software. All applications must be filled out and turned in to a member of the PGA Staff. If you are out of town (either temporarily or seasonally), the application may be emailed to golf@kalamazoocc.com during the registration period stated below. Upon registering for the event, you be charged 50% of the entry fee ($250). This will serve as a deposit, to hold your spot for the event.
- If you are to participate in the event, this deposit will be subtracted from your entry fee of $500.
- Members who are part of the waitlist will not be charged the deposit amount until they are part of the active roster.
- If a member withdraws from the event before the July 1 deadline, their deposit will be refunded.
- If a member withdraws from the event after the July 1 deadline, their deposit will be forfeited
Tournament format for The 1909
Three 9-hole matches featuring three different formats:
Front 9 – Best Ball
Back 9 – Alternate Shot
Short Course – Scramble
Teams will be divided up into flights based on total team handicap. The format for the 1909 is team stroke play, utilizing three different formats. Each round you are competing against your entire flight, unlike other member-guest tournaments where you compete against each team separately. All participants being assigned to flights based upon total team handicap. These flights will be comprised of an equal number of teams.
Schedule of events:
7:30am - Registration / Breakfast
8:30am - Round 1
11:00am - Round 2
1:30pm - Round 3
4:30pm - Championship Shootout
5:30pm - Awards
Lunch will be served “grab and go” style on the golf shop patio in between rounds. Following play in the final match, the winners from each division will compete in the 1909 Shootout, which will begin promptly at 4:30pm and take place over Holes 1, 2 & 3!
The awards presentation for all flight winners and the overall champions will take place IMMEDIATELY following the shootout on the 1st Tee at approximately 6:00pm. Drinks & Hors D’oeuvres will be served during and after the ceremony with spouses and significant others encouraged to attend.
